Native American Art and History Tour

From USD $399.00
  • Duration: 9 Hours (approx.)

Your Lakota Art and History Tour begins with a private pickup from your accommodations in Rapid City, Hill City, Keystone, Custer, Deadwood, or Hermosa. After introductions with both guides take place, we drive out to the beautiful Badlands.

Many visit the Northern Unit of the Badlands, which is beautiful, but only a few set their eyes upon the raw and undeveloped southern portion. This is our favorite part of the Badlands; we're happy to share it with you. All lands traveled today are Ancestral and sacred to the Lakota. We'll visit Red Shirt and Cuny Table, stopping for discussion, photos, and time to take it all in.

More formations of spires, buttes, and tables surround us as we make our way to the Red Cloud Indian School for a museum tour containing a wealth of information and artifacts. While here, we'll also pay our respects at the grave of Chief Red Cloud.

Once we depart from Red Cloud Indian School, we'll head to the town of Pine Ridge and through the beautiful country toward the Wounded Knee massacre site. If you like, you may make your way to the top of the hill to see where the massacre occurred and remember those lost.

Singing Horse Trading Post is next, where we'll find a welcoming atmosphere filled with art of all kinds. From beadwork, wood carvings, hides, Porcupine Quillwork, and more, Rosie will be sure you feel at home.

The journey isn't over yet as we continue north to the White River Badlands Visitors Center and Sheep Mountain Overlook. We think you'll genuinely enjoy this is one of our favorite places to view the Badlands.

From Sheep Mountain Table, we head to the ghost town of Scenic, SD, for a quick stop and make our way home. We hope you've enjoyed your journey full of education, understanding, art, food, wildlife, and a land of beauty.
